As the old proverb states, “prevention is better than cure.” Health insurance companies in Germany have acknowledged this fact for some time now and award allowances for preventative measures if you actively do something to benefit your health whilst on holiday. This is based on the respective legal provisions (§ 20 SGB V), the relevant rules laid down by the health insurers and statutory obligations that need to be adhered to in terms of offering preventative healthcare measures.

Unlike health cure breaks, preventative health care holidays are aimed at healthy people. The focus on prevention was initially enshrined within the legal framework defined in the German federal health reforms in the year 2000. Since this date, statutory health insurance providers have been called upon, in accordance with §20 SGB V of the federal law, to provide services that improve the general state of health of insured people. The guidelines that have been implemented stipulate that statutory health insurance providers should make a financial contribution towards preventative health care measures. The size of the allowance that is granted for preventative health care services is set in accordance with the rules stipulated by the individual health insurance providers.

Complete both health care allowance application forms through your health insurance provider who will authorise this with their company stamp and signature. You will need these authorised forms during the course of your holiday and to claim back costs. - Make Your Reservation at the Waldschlößl Sport and Wellness Hotel

On arrival at the Waldschlößl, you will receive further information on the health holiday you have booked. - Certificate of Participation
Your trainer will confirm your participation in activities, if you have attended at least 80% of the activity programme. You will receive a certificate of participation to confirm your attendance. - Cost Reimbursement
After your holiday, submit your certificate of participation along with your authorised application to your health insurance provider who will then pay the allowance for the amount that was originally authorised.
